What’s New at Gleniph

NOVEMBER, 2008

We attended Sydney Nationals for the first time in ages with our Anglo gelding Gleniph Jasperanza…...Jasper is 18 years old…..his first show as a yearling was Sydney Nationals….he won his class and was awarded Champion Anglo Stallion or Colt in 1991, his first show our first attempt at breeding an Anglo.  We were thrilled and Jasper went on to have the most illustrious show career both with us and his other owners.  Three times Supreme under saddle at the East Coast, Australian Champion Led & Ridden on more than one occasion…….an amazing horse...he loves to show off and loves the show life.  We found Jasper a while ago retired in a paddock, not his preferred lifestyle so we purchased him back in August 2007 and sent him off to the show barn……..then EI hit so finally he emerged at a major show in November 2008.  He powered into the halter ring at the Nationals and won his class and Champion Senior Anglo Gelding, 17 years after his first win……….what an achievement, bought a few tears to our eyes and we were so excited to be there and witness his win……...the main thing is he is once again being pampered and enjoying his life and he looks wonderful under saddle even at his age…….

Early January 2009 we bought our cremello stallion Snow home from his stay at Future Farms, its good to have him home again.  He served some lovely mares whilst he was in Victoria so we are really looking forward to his babies next season.  We have served one mare with him this season so fingers crossed we too will have a lovely coloured baby to show off.

Gleniph Jasperanza & Gleniph Just One Look attended the East Coast Championships in February 2009 and to our delight were both placed Top 5 in their halter classes and their saddle classes.

Unfortunately on the 1st March 2009 we had a horror foaling with our precious Gleniph Satinique….two vets, four hours of dramas...Sassy finally made it through ok but her lovely palomino filly was lost, it was heartbreaking and very difficult as we very nearly lost Sassy, the foal was by our cremello boy Snow……...

Gleniph Jasperanza, Gleniph Just One Look, Gleniph Sovrenity and Eternal Starr went to the Australian National Championships in March 2009 and they all did very well in their respective classes.  Jasper was Top Five in his led class as was Bess (Just One Look), Starr was awarded Reserve Champion, equal on points with the Champion, and Bailey (Sovrenity) was Champion once again, we are so proud of him and his achievements.  Unfortunately Jasper had to pull out of his saddle class but Bess managed Reserve Champion under saddle.

Next Bailey & Bess headed up to the Challenge Show in Qld.  We managed to fly up for the weekend and got to see them compete in all their classes which was great.  Bess was Top Five in her led class and Bailey won Reserve Champion but it was in the saddle classes they both shone so brightly………..Bess was awarded fifth place in the Phillipa Russell-Tyas Memorial Sash for derivatives which was a huge class and we were so proud of her, she also won her saddle classes and was Reserve Champion Galloway under saddle.  Bailey competed in his Novice and Intermediate classes, this was his first big show under saddle with loads of entries and he did so well, third in his Novice and fourth in his Intermediate.  We were so happy with how he went and how cute he looked…….thanks to all at Future Farms for the expert work done with our kids, they are so happy and calm all the time and going so well under saddle.

We are still in drought here and a usual occurrence for us is dust storms so during the last one I took some photos to share…..

On 12th May 2009 we had a new arrival to Gleniph Arabians, the lovely black straight Egyptian mare SES Bint Fabo became part of our family………..thanks to Lynda Sonter for allowing us to have Fabo and for the picture of her below.  We look forward to sharing some time with this sweet natured mare.

.30.12.09 and we have a gorgeous palomino filly by Snow out of Ridgecrest Yakeisha.  Wow two foals for this season and two fillies, never happened to us before !!!!!!  Anyhow she is stunning, very happy with this mating, all went well and seems Snow’s foals are all so lovable and people orientated.

On 16.11.09 our lovely Arabian Riding Pony mare by Chisim foaled a truly beautiful chestnut filly by BA Minstril Bay……...wow she is stunning and we couldn’t be happier with this mating.  In fact we are very happy with both our Arabian Riding Ponies by Minstril Bay, so looks like he has some more mares to serve for some super repeat matings.  Pictures to come shortly………….
